Why Wine Big Union?

This is a personal blog masquerading as political commentary.

I am writing because I have million thoughts in my head at any given moment and this helps deafen them for a bit. But also because I do like writing, I especially enjoy writing about the things I see as wildly important but woefully underrated. So maybe you'll run into a bit of news that didn't make it into your doom-scroll on social media. If that's the case, I am pleased to introduce you to something new. But please remember, I am writing with an agenda and without any of the safeguards of academia or real journalism. I don't have an editor or peer-reviewer, this isn't a source. I always cite my sources/inspirations at the bottom of my posts though. I encourage you to engage with them if anything I write about sparks your interest.

About: About

Who is Peter?

I am Peter Gaughan. They/Them.

I am a professional union organizer.

As the West Coast Regional Organizer for the National Organization of Legal Service Workers-United Auto Workers Local 2320, I service bargaining units across the western third of the United States. NOLSW represents social justice groups, human services providers, and public interest legal aid organizations.

I am formerly a Paralegal at the Eviction Defense Collaborative (a bargaining unit with NOLSW-UAW Local 2320) in San Francisco, where I supported free legal defense work for tenants facing eviction.

If you are interested in learning more about me, my prior experience, and/or unionizing your workplace, feel free to email me at <peterjamesgv@gmail.com>.
